<정광화 충남대 분석과학기술대학원장>

 

정광화는 서울대학교를 졸업하고 미국 피츠버그대학에서 물리학박사학위를 취득한 뒤 1978년 제1호 여성 해외유치과학자로 한국표준과학연구원에 합류하였다. 이후 질량표준연구실장, 진공표준연구실장, 물리표준연구부장 등을 역임하며 진공기술전문가로 진공표준확립에 기여하였다.

2005년 한국표준과학연구원 원장으로 선임되어 국내 최초의 여성 출연연구기관장이 되었다. 2009년 3월부터는 충남대학교 분석과학기술대학원 원장으로 후학양성에 힘쓰고 있다. 대외활동으로는 대한여성과학기술인회 3,4대 회장을 맡아 과학기술부와 함께 “여성 과학기술인력 육성 및 활용에 관한 법률”을 제정하는 등 여성과학기술인의 권리확대에 발 벗고 나섰다. 또한 국가과학기술위원회 민간위원, 국가과학기술자문회의 자문위원 등의 활동을 통해 국가과학기술정책에도 활발히 참여하였다.

Chung, Kwang-Hwa

CHung, Kwang-hwa graduated from Seoul University and recevied a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Pittsburg. She became the first female scientists and joined the  Principal Researcher, Korea Reserach Institute of Standards and Science, in 1978. She has consecutively filled mass standard research principal, vacuum standard research principal, physical standard research principal. 

She contributed to establish a vacuum standard as a president at Korean Vacuum Society. At 2005, She became a master at KRISS and also was a first female master of federal laboratory research in South Korea. Since March 2009, she tries to train technicians at Chungnam National University as the master. She was in her outside activities of  3rd, 4th President of The Association of Korean Woman Scientist and Engineers.

She endeavored to make law "laws on Educate and Use Female Science Technology employees" and to demand female scientists rights. Also She  participated in policy of national science and technology as a consultant of Presidential Advisory Council on Education, Science ＆ Technology.
